“Progress” is the newest single released by Australian Synth-pop artist James Peden in collaboration with Russian Synth-wave artist Spaceman 1981. This is the lead single for James’s album “Remix Sessions” and sets the tone for the larger release. The single will be available on the 28th of January 2022 on all major streaming platforms.

“I was working in a job I hated, injured my back, went through a divorce and a family breakup. It just felt like nothing was going to get better,” says James Peden when asked about the main inspiration for the track. “Years went by, and as I focused on improving myself and chipping away at everything I started progressing in life.” All of that experience is poured into the lyrics of the single “Progress” which is overlaid atop a bed of driving synth-pop rhythms. For this particular remix, the bed was made by Spaceman 1981.

“I originally found out about Spaceman 1981 while watching an online live stream called “Static Realms,” remembers James. “I was very impressed with his music and asked whether he did all the production. I loved it so much I said we should make an album where he’d mix all the songs!”

From that fortuitous discovery, James and Spaceman 1981 started collaborating which led to this particular single being produced.

“Spaceman's 1981 music dives into the synth-wave / retro-wave era. Makes you feel like you go back in time to the 80s but also has a modern sound to it,” said James what Spaceman 1981 brings to the table. “He takes the same approach I do in music revisiting past sounds with a mixture of the future.” 

With this James Peden hopes to progress, pardon the pun, his musical footprint in the synth-pop world and beyond.
